What do we have here? A pretty unassuming Disney-esque "Sunnyview" scrawled across the jacket. However, the name says The Pointer Sisters, so clearly we have an orphan in a new home. The disc itself seems fairly ok with a scratch or two here and there which definitely leads to a few pops and cracks throughout the play.
So what about the music? Well, this seems to be a case of second verse, same as the first. The disc says plainly "For Radio Station Use Only" and both sides contain an extended version of If You Wanna Get Back Your Lady. The two seem virtually identical but perhaps a more discerning ear than mine can pick up the differences. Since this is a radio disc, it is just the single track but is part of the familiar "So Excited" album.
The lovely ladies (Ruth, Issa, and Sadako) belt this one out pretty well. My only real expierence with the Pointer Sisters came from Beverly Hills Cop soundtracks and this song would fit in well with any crusin' scene by Det. Axel Foley. From the strong synth to the delightful bongos in the back, I could see myself tossing this in a driving mix but would not listen regularly. It was enough though for me to go back to some of my other Pointer Sisters.
